Hepatitis C Virus

چکیده
In the 1970s and 1980s, serological tests developed for hepatitis A and B viruses (HAV, HBV) indicated that most transfusion-associated hepatitis was not caused by either HAV or HBV, and were therefore named non-A, non-B hepatitis (NANBH). After detection of the first NANBH-specific clone, the entire viral genome of the now termed hepatitis C virus (HCV) was sequenced, and based on its structural and functional organization, HCV was classified into the family of the Flaviviridae, where it forms its own genus ‘hepacivirus’ (Choo et al., 1989; Kuo et al., 1989). At least six major viral genotypes (1 to 6) have been identified (Simmonds et al., 2005). Viral genotypes have specific geographic distribution. The determination of the viral genotype is important for transmission studies, and has major therapeutic implications. Patients infected with genotype 1 have a significantly lower rate of response to antiviral therapy compared to other genotypes (Manns et al., 2007). Genotypes display differences in nucleotide sequences below 30–35%, and within a genotype genomes are allocated into different subtypes if their sequences differ by over 20–25%. Furthermore, viral isolate(s) present in an infected individual can mutate into quasi-species (Simmonds et al., 2005; Xu et al., 2008).

متن کاملHepatitis C virus and skin
Nowadays viral hepatitis is one of the most common and important causes of chronic liver disorders in the world. Extrahepatic manifestations of viral hepatitis consist a main part of the disease. The main viruses causing hepatitis include Hepatitis A, B and C viruses. Herein common skin manifestations in hepatitis C virus (HCV) are discussed. Chronic hepatitis causes skin disorders both directl...
متن کاملPseudoporphyria in association with Hepatitis C virus infection: A case report
Pseudoporphyria is an uncommon bullous disease with similar clinical and histopathological findings to porphyria cutanea tarda, in the absence of detectable porphyrin elevation. We present a 34-year-old man with clinical and histological findings compatible with porphyria cutanea tarda, whose his urinary uroporphyrin was negative and we concluded that he was a case of pseudoporphyria. Concomita...
متن کاملDetection of SENV Virus in Healthy, Hepatitis B- and Hepatitis C-Infected Individuals in Yazd Province, Iran
Background: SEN virus (SENV) is the latest virus proposed as a cause of unknown hepatitis cases. Among nine detected genotypes of the virus, genotypes D and H are more frequent in hepatitis cases of unknown origin. The aim of this study was to determine the frequency of SENV-D and SENV-H genotypes in the sera of healthy individuals and hepatitis B and C patients. Methods: Totally, 200 serum sam...
متن کاملA Case of Hairy Cell Leukemia Associated with Hepatitis B Surface (HBs) Antigenemia and Concurrent Hepatitis C Virus (HCV) Seropositivity
Literature review shows that hepatitis C infection may increase the risk of non-hodgkin lymphoma. Reactivation of hepatitis B infection has been reported in patients with hairy cell leukemia after chemotherapy and/or splenectomy. We present hepatitis B surface (HBs) antigenemia and concurrent hepatitis C virus (HCV) seropositivity in a case of hairy cell leukemia. Key Words: Hairy cell leukemi...
متن کاملUsing Boehmite Nanoparticles as an Undercoat, and Riboflavin as a Redox Probe for Immunosensor Designing: Ultrasensitive Detection of Hepatitis C Virus Core Antigen
In this study a label-free electrochemical Immunosensor for ultrasensitive detection of Hepatitis C virus core antigen in serum samples was fabricated by using a simple approach. In this method a low-cost and sensitive immunosensor was fabricated based on a boehmite nanoparticles (BNPs) modified glassy carbon. The BNPs provide a specific platform with increased surface area which is capable of ...
